道明會簡史：
道明會創始於主曆1215年，會祖為聖道明，現已傳佈於世界五大洲，分屬五十個會省，會士人數六千餘。道明會會員除上述男會士外，尚包括分佈四千餘位道明會隱修女（天主之母隱修院─屏東縣萬巒鄉萬金村萬聖路40號），三萬餘名道明會修女(在台灣約餘名修女，分屬五個團體)，另約十萬名在俗道明會友(在台灣省約八百名)。
三百年前道明會士已來福建及台灣傳教，首位國藉主教羅文藻為道明會士，在中國傳教首先殉道的劉方濟亦為道明會士。
The Order of Preachers was formally approved by Pope Honorius III in 1216. Emerging in response to a need for informed preaching and the salvation of souls, the Order adopted a mendicant lifestyle, rejecting traditional monastic enclosure for the freedom to move where the mission required. For over 800 years, the Dominicans have been at the forefront of theological study and social justice, preaching the Gospel across every continent.
Saint Dominic de Guzman (1170–1221) was a Spanish priest and the founder of the Order of Preachers, commonly known as the Dominicans. Known for his deep intellectual commitment and apostolic zeal, he revolutionized religious life by combining rigorous study with itinerant preaching to combat heresy and spread the Gospel.
His legacy continues today through the Dominican family, which includes friars, nuns, sisters, and laity dedicated to the pursuit of Truth ('Veritas'). St. Dominic is also traditionally associated with the spread of the Rosary, a centerpiece of Dominican spirituality and a powerful tool for contemplation.
於1172年左右，生於西班牙加肋路加，在巴倫西亞攻讀神學，對貧苦者大慈大悲。1196~1197年成了奧斯瑪教區的詠經司鐸。因喜愛祈禱與擅長管理，被擢陞為副院長(1202年)管理詠經團團務。在阿爾比異端所紛擾的法國南部土魯斯地區，他堪稱為最勤奮的宣道士(1206年)。他以福音神貧的榜樣及道理上友誼的交談，在教宗依諾森三世的贊助下，提供了闡述信仰的新方式。在宣傳福音的工作上，他也非常注重婦女們的參與，並在普義給她們建立了隱修院(1206年)。該處成了她們祈禱和修德的處所、宣道工作的助力、或宣道士需要時的避難處。
1215年土魯斯主教富爾克核准此種宣道方式。道明並親自收錄了幾個同伴的獻身加入「宣揚耶穌基督」的行列。同年，在土魯斯成立了第一座男會院，就此奠定下了新修會的基礎。
聖道明常與天主交談，好能有效地去談論天主。當他以火熱的宣道將天主通傳給人時，同時也用祈禱將人交託給天主。他處處以言以行顯示出自己世「福音之人」。「他和會士或同伴相處時，沒有人比他更平易近人，也沒有人比他更喜樂，他成了近人的最大安慰者。」他雖是一位嚴格之人，卻懂得權宜，不墨守成規。有才幹、富睿智、是位改革家，確實時忠於教會的各種指示。
會祖於1221年8月6日安逝於波羅那。他的好友教宗國瑞九世於1234年7月3日將他列入聖品。

宣講 (Preaching)
宣講是祈禱、研讀與團體生活的果實。透過我們的言說、行動和充滿憐憫的服務，我們分享喜訊，並為世界帶來希望。
Our Motto

This single word has guided the Order of Preachers since St. Dominic founded it.
To be Dominican is to seek Truth — who is Christ himself — and to share that Truth
with others through preaching, teaching, and witness.
