Mission and Identity Religious Missionaries of St. Dominic
The story of the Religious Missionaries of St. Dominic is rooted in the missionary zeal of the Dominican Order, whose members carried the light of the Gospel to the peoples of the Far East.
With the arrival of the first Dominican missionaries in the Philippines in 1587, under the Province of the Holy Rosary, a new chapter of evangelization began. From the Philippines, they journeyed to Japan, China, Formosa (present-day Taiwan), and Vietnam, proclaiming Christ among peoples who had yet to hear the Gospel. For more than three centuries, these missionaries embraced lives marked by sacrifice, hardship, persecution, and even martyrdom, carrying the Cross with unwavering faith and hope.
From this rich missionary heritage, a new light emerged.
In 1885, a humble woman, Mrs. Valentina García Suelta, sought the help of the Dominican Fathers in Ocaña, Spain, to establish a school for children. What began as a simple educational initiative soon became the seed of a missionary congregation. Guided and nurtured by the Dominican Province of the Holy Rosary, the first community was formally incorporated into the Province in 1891, sharing fully in its missionary spirit and vision.
With this incorporation came a clear identity: to be Dominican Missionaries for the East. The Congregation inherited the Dominican passion for preaching the Gospel among those who did not yet know Christ, becoming a living continuation of the Province's centuries-old missionary mission.
On April 20, 1892, the sisters moved to Madrid to prepare missionaries for the Far East. Their hearts were set on distant lands, particularly China, where they devoted themselves not only to evangelization but also to works of compassion and justice, including the protection and care of abandoned children through the work of the Holy Childhood (Santa Infancia). Their mission united proclamation of the Gospel with the defense of human dignity.
A defining milestone came on April 29, 1934, when the "little constellation" of missionary sisters was canonically erected as the Congregation of the Religious Missionaries of St. Dominic.
Today, inspired by more than four centuries of Dominican missionary tradition and over a century of our own congregational history, we continue to proclaim Christ across cultures and frontiers. Faithful to our charism, we dedicate ourselves to evangelization, education, pastoral ministry, healthcare, social outreach, and the promotion of human dignity, especially among those who have not yet encountered the Good News.

Our current mission work spans across three continents and fifteen nations, where 474 sisters in 64 houses and 122 apostolates labor with love to share the Light of Christ, bringing education, pastoral care, and compassionate service to those in need. We are guided by the life and teachings of St. Dominic and our patron, Our Lady of the Rosary and the Holy Family striving to preach the Word of God through both our actions and our words.

緣起
本會簡介：本會是因道明會玫瑰省在遠東地區傳福音的需要，而形成的傳福音修女會。1887年一批奉獻於祈禱和傳福音工作的女青年，效法會祖聖道明的精神，加入了道明會玫瑰省的傳福音行列。先後到中國大陸、台灣、日本、菲律賓，開始了本會的新生命。1916年有數位修女隨著玫瑰省神父來台灣，從事拓荒的使徒工作。1934年本會獲教宗批准，正式成立命名為道明傳福音修女會。現在總會院設在羅馬，全會有四個會省，分佈在台灣、日本、菲律賓、西班牙，以及四個直屬總會治理區：羅馬、智利、美國、南韓。
我們的宗旨
遵從會祖聖道明的精神：以祈禱、福音勸諭的三願生活、研讀、團體生活、遵守規律和傳福音生活等要素，達成道明會士聖召的神恩─默觀所得分施與人；以弘道明德的使命，藉學校教育工作、教理講授、堂區牧靈、孤兒院、安老院、診所等，作為福傳的媒介。

直接向尚未信仰基督及貧困者傳揚福音---是本修會的優先使徒工作。
