Sor Evangeline De Ocera David was born on February 21, 1942 in San Nicolas, San Fernando Pampanga. Her parents were George David and Consolacion de Ocera David. There were 4 boys and 4 girls and one adopted sister in the family and she was the eldest. She studied Associate in Secretarial Science.
She left her family and went to Sta. Rita, Pampanga to live with the sisters, later on May 5, 1968, she joined and admitted to the Postulancy, after 6 months, January 1, 1969, she took the habit and entered the novitiate in Dominican College, San Juan. She was assigned in Sta. Rita, Pampanga and taught Religion in a Public School. On January 1, 1971, she took her Temporal Profession in Dominican College, San Juan and given the Religious name of Sor Ma. Evangelina del Sto. Rosario. As a Junior, she was asked to teach Religion and also the infirmarian of the community. On January 10, 1976, she took her Perpetual Profession in Dominican College, San Juan.
On the same year 1976, she left the country and was assigned in our mission in Taiwan at Dominican International School, Tah Chih until 2008. March 6, 2009, she was assigned at Dominican Child Development Center, Ordot, Guam, and after two years, she was sent to St. Dominic’s Senior Care Home, Barrigada, Guam for 7 years taking care of the elderlies. She was loved by many because of her sweet smile and loving gestures to the sick and old as well. She was a dedicated and a prayerful sister. Due to her illness, she needed to go back to the Philippines on April 23, 2018 for her heart surgery and medical treatment. In spite of her sickness, she tried to be of help by sharing her talent in art, in poetry and by writing greetings, reflections, etc. on the board. She is loved by everyone for being caring, loving, always with sweet smile and calling everyone “my love”.
On the early morning of September 1, 2020, the nurse tried to wake her up but she no longer responded. Sor Evangeline passed away in her sleep due to cardiac arrest and diabetic complications.
Her remains was cremated on September 2. The following day a funeral Mass was held at Sta Catalina's Ladies' Residence Chapel, Sampaloc, Manila. The Interment was held at the Valley of Repose, Dominican House of Prayer Compound, Tagaytay City Philippines.
